Supporting Neurodiversity in
the Modern Classroom
A Present Pal White Paper
In this first white paper of our series, we present the case for supporting neurodiversity in the modern classroom. Presentations are increasingly being used as a form of active learning, and while they have many advantages, they can also create a number of barriers for students, particularly those with a disability, learning difference, or neurodiversity. In this paper, we explore modern approaches to learning and teaching, the presence of neurodiversity in modern classrooms, and provide evidence that the current accommodations made available to students are not suitable for mitigating the challenges which arise from presentation based activities.
